So Shines A Good Deed of the Day: A Club-Level server at Qualcomm Stadium, who accidentally tripped on a stair during the September 1st match-up between the Chargers and the 49ers, lost her grip on the $1,000 stack she had been holding, sending it fluttering into the Field section below.
Money’s gone, right? Wrong.
“All my customers began screaming over the railing to the people below: ‘That’s the servers’ money’,” says Heather Allison. Chargers fans immediately rushed to collect all the bills that had been strewn on the ground and under seats. Ten minutes later, a security officer delivered every last dollar back to Allison.
“Chargers fans are amazing,” she told The San Diego Union-Tribune. “We’re like a family.”

Loyal Dog Mourns, Lays at Casket of Fallen Navy Seal
The dog of slain Petty Officer Jon Tumilson refused to leave his side during the Navy SEAL’s funeral earlier this week in Rockford, Iowa. The heartbreaking photo taken by his cousin, Lisa Pembleton, shows Tumilson’s dog Hawkeye lying by the casket. Navy SEAL U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Jon T. Tumilson was among the 30 American troops killed August 6 when Taliban insurgents downed their Chinook helicopter with a rocket-propelled grenade. At his funeral in Iowa, his dog Hawkeye paid his last respects, walking up to the casket, lying down in front of it, and heaving a sigh.

A very helpful overview of the interplay between our conscious and unconscious minds, and the role our own thoughts play in determining how we act and feel.
Excerpt:
Whether you understand its messages or not, your subconscious continually communicates with you through emotion-based action-signals to let you know where you are in relation to where you want to be. You’re not going to like this, however: Some of the most useful action signals are in the form of painful emotions.
Upsetting emotions, such as disappointment, unmet expectations or fears are useful feedback. They are action signals letting you know you are wired with high standards and want to do better (and are trying to figure out how!). Similarly, feelings of sadness, loneliness, detachment help you get in touch with your inner drives to meaningfully connect and contribute to others and life.
Painful emotions, one can say, are continual reminders that, even though you’re never going to achieve perfection, nevertheless, you are wired to figure out how to consciously live an optimally fulfilling, meaningful life (and, that your thinking patterns may be blocking your efforts, and thus, need your attention).
